Ayers Mini Pig Farm - Pigs Are Like Pringles, You Can't Have Just One!
Welcome! Ayers Mini Pig Farm is a hobby farm just south of Fort Worth
Texas. We take pride in our piglets and raise them with love and care.
They each get hands on attention daily and we provide that personal
touch unlike many large breeders. We also breed for quality not
quantity. Our mini pigs are our babies and we sell only to those that we
feel can give them as much love as we do.
We are different than other breeders as we raise our piglets indoors ad
get them used to being handled by humans, comfortable around cats
and dogs, used to children, and also learn household noises. We start
litter box training on day one they are born it does not take long, less
than a day to start using there potty box. Mini Piglets are as smart as a 3
year old child, but also smartness can equal stubborn. It requires lots of
patients but in the end is rewarding.
We produce silver, silver/white, white aka pink, black, black/white, pinto,
Jinhua Marked Potbelly's (black head, pink nose, and white body).
Jinhuas are a unique looking potbelly that you will not find anywhere
else. Everyone wants a Jinhua but we only produce maybe 4 or 5 so
there highly sought after and sell quickly.
Some of the pink or AKA white piglets do have blue eyes. Blue eyed
piglets do have a small chance of being deaf. This is common in many
animals with blue eyes. We will make a note in the description of the
piglet if we do find one of our piglets may be deaf or blind.
We also are able to ship to all US states by American Airlines or ground
shipping if needed. Shipping is extra and not included in the piglet
purchase fee. Please see the purchase page for instructions on how to
purchase a piglet.

IS A MINI POT RIGHT FOR YOU?
Please do your research before buying as we can not do it for you. Make
sure that a mini pot is right for your household. These are not
apartment pets, yes they stay inside but they also need there outside
time too. Potty box is good for young piglets, but older piglets need a
yard to potty in like a dog does. They learn to go to a door and ask to go
out or can use a doggy door.
You MUST have a fenced yard as mini pigs are fast runners and can be
Houdini's and slip out of harnesses easily. Once they are on the run it
will be extremely hard to catch them as there adrenaline is pumping and
they don't know you are not chasing them to hurt them, so they keep
running around .
Mini Pigs can get out of the smallest of holes in your yard or spaces
between gates even. Rule of thumb is if the spot is big as your fist then
you will have a problem if it is not Fixed they can push under cyclone
fence like it was nothing. You also will need to make sure they can not
get under your house through any open spots. Best thing to use for
making a pig pen is hog panels. They are 3ft tall and 16ft long. They
have small squares on bottom and bigger squares at the top to stop any
little ones from getting out. You will need 6-8 of these panels, 12-16
t-post and some fence wire will make a nice area for a mini pig along with
a large dog house, water & feed pans, small kiddie pool, and tarps to
make a shade over them if you do not have lots of trees. 6 panels makes
a 16x32 area or 8 panels makes a 32x32 area.
Mini pigs are not like puppies or cats and need lots of handling, rocking,
petting etc .. to make a into a great house pet. They are not like a puppy
and run up to you and lick you. They are going to be scared and shy at
first. They need to learn to trust you, thats a big factor in being a mini
pigs best friend. It does take a good 1-2 weeks for them to settle in. If
you have never owned a mini pot than I would suggest only one piglet
until you get the hang of it. It takes a lot of patients and time to make
them into the perfect house pet.
It is a challenge and you need to be prepared for it. Please read books
before getting one so you will know if this is the prefect pet for you as
well as how to handle and care for them. They are cute but can be a
handful as well. It is either a love or a hate relationship with mini pots. I
can't stress enough that you need to do lots of research and preparing
for your new piglet..
They are the 4th smartest animal in the world but smartness can equal
stubborn.
Most importantly have you checked your zoning laws, HOA, and any land
restrictions before buying. This will save you a lot of trouble later on.
All inside pots must be spayed/neutered to make a good inside pet.
They do require a little more patients than owning a dog or cat. Patience
is something you must have to work with your piglet. They are not for
everyone so please make sure this is the pet for you.
Even though they are called inside pets they do spend about 50-80 % of
there time outside sunning and just laying around. They love outside
time and some that buy them just make them an area outside with a
large dog house and kiddie pool and do not let them inside. Some install
large dog doors so they come and go on there own. Its all up to what
works for your family.
Kids love them and I do suggest supervision with young children as
sticky candy fingers can smell very tempting to munch on. Not the pigs
fault they do not know the difference between yummy fingers and food.
I would not suggest a piglet for any child as a present that is under 10
years of age. Its fine for an adult to have a mini pot with younger children
as long as you are not relying on the child to take care of the mini pot.
Children need to know how to hold, care for, and clean up after a mini
pot. They are wonderful for older children that are able to do chores and
children who are more responsible.
You must be a true pigfanatic to enjoy them! Are you up for the
challenge?
To sum it up you need the time and the attitude that you are the boss
not them. Don't let them down each time they scream because they are
smart and know this is the key to getting down. If you let them be the
boss then they have won and think of you as there pet....lol They will pull
your strings and you will do what they want. Yes, they can be bossy but
you need to be the boss so please get it in your head that you will
master being a pig parent. Being a pig parent is like no other job you
have had, but a fantastic payoff is the love you will receive from your
mini pig.
It is going to be a task to harness ,leash, and potty train so please get
books off of AMAZON.com about mini potbellied pigs.
HOW BIG ARE OUR MINI POT'S?
Our piglets weigh 4-6oz at birth or the weight of a tuna fish can.
Average Weights for Our Mini Pots:
8 weeks: 5-8 lbs
6 months: 25-30 lbs
1 year: 50-60 lbs
Height:
Adults are about 16-18" tall. They are just about knee height and are
long bodied, about 3ft. There weight is compacted so they don't look like
they weigh that much. They weigh as much as a lab but look like a
English bulldog or Basset Hound.
Please note the standard for Mini Pigs is 50-125 lbs and 16-22" tall. I
personally believe that there weight is up to the people feeding them and
height is genetic from there parents. (Think about humans and how
many kids these days are overweight, same concept. This is why I will
not guarantee they stay the weight of our breeders do to in proper
feeding and snacking.) Our mini pots are not as big as the standard by
any means. Click here to see our mini piglets at different ages so you
can see how big our mini pigs are.
Diet:
Mini Pigs need a strict diet of 12-14% protein or they will really gain
weight quickly. They only eat 1-2 Cups twice a day with some veggies for
snack. NO DOG FOOD OR SCRAPS !!
